110th Street (Cian Ó Cíobháin & Cyril Briscoe) return to Cork City

110th Street is a bona fide Irish clubbing institution, that has raved its way through many venues and cities, since its inception in Galway, one starry night in November 1998. Run by Cian Ó Cíobháin (of An Taobh Tuathail, RnaG) and producer Cyril Briscoe (Dextris/ Ah! Kimono), the club has built up a stellar reputation as the Saturday night soundtrack of choice for different generations of clubbers and music lovers.

Originally conceived as a funk/soul/disco shindig in Galway's Town Hall venue, 110th Street has shapeshifted - sometimes quite dramatically - as musical passions have evolved through the years. There was the electroclash period from 2002-5, when the club introduced future stadium acts Erol Alkan, Soulwax and The Glimmers to Irish clubbers. There was the Berlin-inspired 'minimal' era from 2006-7, with the emphasis on hypnotic rhythms and bleeps. Indeed, there was even a brief period from 2007-8, when the DJs (who often played and produced under the SiSi moniker) spent some time on sabbatical, where it was reputed that they were spending their time stocking their wine cellars.

Cyril & Cian currently host occasional parties at Monroe's in Galway's vibrant westend, where - much like Glasgow's infamous Optimo nights - house, techno & disco records are merged together in the name of all things exultant and perspiring. Though 110th Street tends to be associated with its Galway heartland, the club has previously held residencies in Dublin (Red Box) and Cork (Redz and City Limits). This is Cyril & Cian's first joint party in Cork in donkey's years.
